Tom is a university graduate Sports Therapist, who completed his degree from Leeds Beckett University in 2015. He has been working in private clinical practice for the last decade. He joined the team at The Sports Therapy Clinic - Morley in May 2024 as he has seen the awesome progression of the clinic over the last few years. He is working on a part time basis at TSTC (Wednesday afternoons & evenings) whilst he also lectures at Leeds Beckett University and is continuing to spend some time in a clinic in Sheffield where he has worked for many years. He has developed an incredible reputation and client base in Sheffield and we know he will continue to grow and do the same here with us.
Over the fair few years as a Sports Therapist Tom has a range of experience working in football, rugby league, rugby union and cricket. He is also well versed in dealing with athletes from other sporting backgrounds, from boxing to ice skating, you name it! He has also helped and treated many other people from varying backgrounds, not just in sports. You'll be in safe hands with Tom as he is a very empathetic therapist that is able to treat many aches, pains, struggles and injuries.

He does however have a specialist and specific area that he has taken a keen interest in to and has done his Masters by Research in to 'An Investigation Into The Current Use Of Dysfunctional Breathing Assessment Within Musculoskeletal Therapy Practice'. Dysfunctional breathing is essentially an umbrella terms for breathing pattern disorders, such like hyperventilation syndrome and paradoxical breathing of which can come about with anxiety and stress. Neuromuscular activation is testing and then improving the communication between the nervous system and muscular system to improve the efficiency of movement and movement patterns.

Tom is available for injury assessment, diagnosis and treatment along with and as well as sports massage sessions also. He will provide a full assessment with appropriate advice and treatment and if necessary a management and rehabilitation plan. If you're specifically interested in a Dysfunctional Breathing or Neuromuscular Assessment you can book in by booking an initial appointment with Tom.
Outside of work Tom's sporting passions are in football, squash and hiking, and he is a proud supporter of the Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Research UK and the Kirkwood Hospice. He has taken part in numerous fundraising events over the years for each of these charities. TSTC look forward to supporting Tom on his charitable ventures and hope we can continue to help him raise funds for the charities he is passionate about.

We look forward to growing with Tom as a team to provide the most honest, best and trustworthy sports therapy service Leeds has to offer.
